Flights from KLMO to celebrate the centennial of the first woman to achieve her pilot's license, Raymonde de Laroche. Women pilots on 5 continents challenged themselves to introduce other women to aviation. This video also celebrates the women of the 1930's who flew Bücker biplanes. Women flew these airplanes in the Airforce, as professional factory test pilots, and for sport. The Bücker Jungmann has been in production since the early 1930's in Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Japan. It is currently manufactured in Spain and Poland. The Bücker used for these flights was manufactured in 1963 by the Spanish Airforce. It currently wears Dutch Airforce colors from 1938. It has been modified to use a modern American engine.

  • Love your work! My grandma (may she rest in peace) solo'd in a Tiger Moth in the '20s (inspired by Amy Johnson). She took out a stone wall avoiding a flock of sheep on final (sheep were expensive!!), which ended her illustrious flying career (when her father found out). Some 50 years later she sat in my Citabria as my first passenger after I got my PPL. Great memories. :)

  • Nice story, thanks for sharing it. There is a whole world of having fun out there!. I got to take my uncle flying before he died. He was my inspiration--but not so colorful as your grandma.

  • That was so much fun!!!

  • You had the biggest smile the whole time. I'm really glad you had so much fun. Let's do it again sometime!

  • I finally got to take a look at this video!!! I LOVE it, and I love that you put all this together to honor women in aviation. What an honor to be a part of it, Gail! Thanks a million for the privilege:)

  • If need any help with any other world record attempts, let me know! ha ha :-)
