"Aeroplane" is, in my opinion, kind of a perplexing track to me. I really love the sounds I've been able to come up with in support of each other and how they work with the drums in this track. The first version of this track was released on the "Motorcade" EP in 2009, however after several comparative listens I thought the mix was a bit too quiet and here was an opportunity to really beef everything up and get an alternate version completed.
But there's more than that. Sure from a technical aspect the track could be improved and re-released but for "The Apollo Program" it needed to fit the aesthetic. It's been trimmed about 12 seconds but the major changes are within the pads and synth sounds and their placing in this version has been swapped a bit. The acid 303 line now dictates the end of the song and the pad sounds build a real wall of ambience that definitively makes it fit on the album.
