Abandoned Toll Bridge in Inver Grove Heights, MN. Popular hangout and overall fun place to be. It worked just fine, but the guy who owned it couldn't afford the maintenance so he more or less said "fuck it" and let it rust.

The part at the beginning is because I like trains. =]

UPDATE: As of February 11th, 2009, I've gotten word that crews are going to be begin demolishing this bridge as early as next week. I have many wonderful memories of this place, and it will be missed.

  • Pretty sweet! Do you guys know which RR used to run the tracks? Get in there and do some M.O.W. work and rail ride it ;)

  • M.O.W. work? That being?

  • maybe they will reopen this eventually. That's what they did with the Arthur Kill Lift Bridge going to Staten Island New York just recently after being closed for 16 or 17 years.

We need to embrace our rail infrastructure and unused right-of-way in this country. There is so much of it out there and really is an excellent alternative to road travel and freight.

    RON PAUL REVOLUTION!!!

  • Eh...doubtful...it's in pretty rotten shape. It'd be cheaper to just tear the whole thing down.

  • Cool. You said you would go back to film and you did! Some one asked me to film a building in Minneapolis, so thats what i'm working on now... Thanks for posting this to the Lowry bridge video.

  • Lookin forward to it, sir! I'll have more to this as soon as I can pry it out of the file that won't let it go...

  • To prevent them from being a hazard to ships and boats.

  • Your friend's dad was a little crazy sounding lolol

  • Maintainence Of Way

  • Since the line is no longer active there's no real point to keeping the bridge closed and leaving it turned allows the boats below to pass by unrestricted.

  • Long train was long.

  • why do they always turn bridges on railroad tracks after its been abandoned?

  • oh bummer. that's too bad. How long has it been closed?
