I'm mad because people pleasantly enjoy music instead of critically enjoying it!

RE: singing along... when the audience gets, ahem, older, they will learn that sitting down and listening is a great pleasure. Now it just seems to be idol worship. The need to STAND during an entire show is lost on me.. unless it is a dance show, at which time u are... standing

Nice shoulder. ;)
I'd love to see him live some day.

I'm so happy for all of you who were there, but also turning green! How cool was this??!

wow, at the time i couldnt tell that others were singing, mainly because i was so entranced by sufjan but now that i can hear it is pretty annoying. he did play casimir pulaski day though and i was too busy crying to notice is anyone was singing in all honesty...sufjan rocks my world and this concert was so fucking epic, so glad i was there and in the freakin front row.

I was at the Champaign show too, and i think the only reason he didnt play this, or maybe some others was because the High Dive was double booked. My brother has seen him in the past, and he will usually play a longer show than he did that night. I was expecting more songs, but i was soooo happy to have heard what i did.

i agree with the singing thing. its the norm now...personally....i think its really annoying. especially during a quiet song. i want to hear his voice, not yours. this group camp bullshit is lame.

When did it become acceptable/normal to sing along with every artist? Especially an acoustic song about a serial killer? This isn't U2 or Dashboard Confessional. I wonder what Sufjan thinks about this. I want to hear him because I can hear myself any day (and I always sound awful).

I agree. I have stopped going to certain acoustic shows for the very reason that the audience will sing along. Like you said, I go to a show to hear the performer, not myself or my neighbor. It's one thing to sing along in an arena to a rock band, it's another in a smaller venue to a folk/indie/acoustic band.
