I am using a Husqvarna 346XP on a training course and simple cannot make it start from cold. I am female and relatively strong for a female of my age and build (over 50, 5ft 5 and just under 9 stone). Any tips? Hot starts are no problem but having my instructor start it from cold is not going to get my qualification next week. He is going to bring in a chainsaw that is supposed to start more easily tomorrow but I would like to stick to this one

think they did the kickback in the end because the guy gets injured xD they stop de video but i think the chainsaw hit him in the face :P

Everyone who is new to operating chainsaws should be made to understand what kick back is. That video demonstrates it perfectly.
duckbilldaphne: apart from making sure you use the decompression button there's not a lot I can help you with! It's a problem that I came across many times when teaching, in the end we bought a small Stihl MS250C (EasyStart) so that females could maintain the larger saw, but do the cross-cutting with the smaller saw. I guess it's a matter of technique - pull the cord quick enough to get the engine spinning, but not too hard that you pull it right out! I assume you are using right hand to start?
