Oracle's wing-sail trimaran (USA), shown here raising a headsail off San Diego generated via engine power, has won the America's Cup off Valancia, Spain. The monster trimaran beat the Swiss team's Alinghy catamaran (recent holder of the Cup) in light breezes two out of three races Feb-12 and Feb-14. Oracle's efficient wing-sail allowed the trimaran to sail three times faster than the the wind speed from extremely light to moderate airs which was the deciding factor this yacht won the Cup. The America's Cup returns to Golden Gate YC in San Francisco, the first time the Cup has returned to American soil after an absence of 15 years in foreign countries.
