This was the best view of the waterfall. This was where we made our first big mistake. Half of us wanted to go back to the car, but the other half talked us into climbing up to the caves at the very top of the waterfall. Half way up we realized that we were climbing a cliff face, and that getting back down would be very dangerous. Our "guide" promised us that there was a road not far away that would lead us straight back to our car if we would just finish climbing. Going up seemed safer than going down, so we continued going up. Gary almost fell to his death when his feet slipped, and he had to pull himself up with just his arms. A volunteer with Malibu Search & Rescue later told us that we were all lucky to be alive because she's "always picking up dead bodies at the bottom of that cliff".
