How does a patient prepare for a cochlear implant operation?

Dr. Douglas Backous discusses the process a patient goes through in preparation for a cochlear implant at the Center for Hearing Loss and Skull Base Surgery at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute. The process includes preliminary meetings with audiologists to determine candidacy for receiving a cochlear implant, through the procedure itself and preparation for activating the implant after surgery.
