This TV-dramatization tells the story of marital abuse, but with a slight twist in the formula: the abuser and abused are young, upper-middle-class newlyweds. Kellie Martin is fresh-faced wife and young-mother Katie, who goes against her parents' better judgment and marries the good-looking but shady Jim (Ivan Sergei). Soon after their marriage, Katie realizes her husband has explosive and violent anger, but repeatedly accepts his apologies. After doing everything in her power to hide the truth from her police-officer father (Kevin Dobson), she finally comes clean to her family and tries to leave, facing the ultimate confrontation with Jim.

I hate how Katie could see how bad her dad is treating her mom but she couldn't see it when it came to her own situation!! A lot of people are like that. They could see what's wrong with everyone else but blind when it comes to themselves!

When Katie tells Doug that Jimmy fainted in the delivery room, Jimmy loses it and physically and emotionally abuses her. It's beyond unfair. It's a warning sign. lol

I fully agree with all comments. That light slap if one could call it that was a sign of things to come for her !!! She should have stopped him right there. From personal experience my 2nd boyfriend pinched me lightly once on the leg, while he was driving, I answered back straight away hitting him, He was stunned by my reaction but I too had a Father who tought me from a young age to defend myself and not to allow anyone especially a man to hit me. From that day my ex boyfriend was afraid of me.
