At 1933 hours, a distress phase was declared and search action commenced after Frederick Valentich disappeared over Bass Strait on October 21st, 1978.

Its a shame the actual transmission tape was never made public, it would have made for some great samples, especially his last line "That strange aircraft is hovering on top of me again, It is hovering and it's not an aircraft" and the strange "metallic scraping sound" afterwards which Richard Haines identified as "Thirty-six separate bursts with fairly constant start and stop pulses bounding each one"! Love the track anyway, pure analog space disco moog heaven the way it glides & pulses.
