Spencer Boomhower recently created this excellent CRC video. Crucially, he condemns the project as being flawed from the very beginning by its limited scope - focusing on a stretch of highway for what is correctly understood as a regional transportation problem. This is one of many procedural failures, all of which are why Stop The CRC has always pushed for a reboot of the entire process. Also explained is "induced demand:" a key concept for anyone wondering why the strategy of building more lanes to reduce congestion always fails.

Boomhower takes an almost optimistic tack by listing numerous bureaucratic obstacles to the project's realization, but we mustn't let these lull us into a false sense of security: without an organized and vital opposition, there is a real danger of this behemoth crashing through those obstacles under its own momentum.
