It's a general test day, so both cars out on track just practicing, setting up the cars etc.

seems the Vectra would be the faster car if they were from the same class and had the same power

Yes and No. THe Vectra has thinner tyres and a lot less power, but the car has £30,000 worth of suspension on it, the BMW doesn't, that makes a big difference to grip. A super V8 Vauxhall versus a super V8 BMW...with the same spec suspension? No contest!!!
