Holly jumping at home today.
She's getting way to eager- she tends to just launch and then demolish the jump, and at times i find it hard to keep her together due to being small. but when she gets it right she flies!
she is now going to do lots of grid work and bounces etc to get her using her self more and to back off a bit. the little jumps at the end with the filler were simply to get her to back off- they were only tiny, so there was no issue of jjumping them- she could do it from a walk, it was getting her to steady up.

she is now in boot camp- we've decided not to jump her for atleast a few weeks due to the fact she is becoming very dangerous and i don't really fancy being broken again when i'm no actually completely fixed... we have had too many accidents at my yard, particularly with rearing horses... so she is going to have some intensive flat work sessions and get her muscled up and just get her to respect both the fences and me more!
she won't be seeing another fence until she promises never to behave like this again!

  • wow, its weird to read someone describe EXACTLY how my horse used to be. how old is holly? my horse was exactly the same, would just run and rear into the jump and demolish them, it all ended when we rotationally fell and he fell ontop of me and trod on my face and neck as he got up. he had 4 months of jumping, and now he's come back better than ever! he's still a bit silly, but so much more careful! i wish you all the best with her! xx

  • @hannahtillyx she was 5 in march :)

  • @milliesos very :/ yeaa- following this she wasn't jumped for two weeks. we sorted out her rearing and taught her some manners, working on her flatwork and getting her to respect the rider more. She was jumped for the first time following this yesterday and didn't put a foot wrong!

    thank you :):)

we bought her off a private seller, but she originally came from Holland :) the stud has some really long, complicated deutch name :Lx
