About Alex's Gibson Les Paul Axcess:
Created through a collaboration between Gibson Guitars and Alex Lifeson himself, the Gibson Custom Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess redefines the boundaries of the classic Les Paul guitar: packed in a single remarkable instrument, this Gibson guitar carries all of the traditional tones that make the Les Paul a timeless instrument, with the addition of an incredibly versatile array of pickups, outstanding vibrato system, and sculpted heel allowing easy access to the upper frets—the sky's the limit with this sonic chameleon, whose sound-shifting depths are virtually limitless. What's more, you can route it all through a traditional mono jack (labeled "Regular") using a single guitar cable, or use two cables to split your sonic trickery off into separate output paths using the "Regular" and the "Life-O-Sound" output jacks together. The Axcess comes in your choice of two stunning colors—Viceroy Brown and Royal Crimson—both approved by Alex Lifeson himself, and both resplendent atop a stunningly figured maple top.
Only 50 Alex Lifeson Axcess guitars in this very limited run (25 in each finish) will be signed by the artist himself. Reserve yours through Musician's Friend Private Reserve Guitars at 800-343-9795. Unsigned models are available at both Musician's Friend and Private Reserve Guitars.

@dvdfrnzwbr nah, Alex didn't switch for any reason other than making the best guitar sound ever... once again. THAT is why Rush is so listenable.
I happen to agree with him... having played both Gibson LP's and PRS I much prefer a good LP to ANY PRS. They just sound better, and the good ones play like butter.
That said, there are still things that you can ONLY do on a Strat, Tele, etc... so there will probably never be an "all-in-one" which is what PRS tried commendably to be.

In other words the PRS Guitars weren't selling so I went back to Gibson.

I like it. It gives those of us who need a vibrato bar, but want to keep that Les Paul sound a good option, so we don't have to ruin a beautiful Les Paul by having a Floyd Rose installed.

It's so awesome except for the floyd. That totally ruins it.
