Part 1 of 4. Total Time: 37:24

It's finally here. A complete, single-segment speed run of Gunstar Heroes for the Sega Genesis, completed on Expert without taking any damage, at all.

Originally recorded and uploaded on July 9th. Re-uploaded for the trillionth time in HD, now with original aspect ratio maintained. Barring upload issues, this will be the final upload.

Since everyone and their dog is going to ask or make accusations, this run was recorded on an emulator, as I do not have a capture card to do console runs. However, it is NOT tool-assisted.

Comment, rate, and enjoy.

Notes: I use Chaser Flame throughout the entire game. The first couple of levels go smoothly, almost perfect. To be expected. I get grabbed by the Phantom in the Dice Maze, but it doesn't cause a great loss of time.

Gunstar Heroes was published by Sega and produced by Treasure in 1993

  • Insane job! Just bought this today on the Wii VC, but never imagined doing a no damage run.

  • @packattack04082 Thanks. How is that DKCR run going? Are you going to do a single segment any% or are you just doing a level table?

  • oh the flame chaser, the cheapest weapon that ever existed.

i probably have spend more time playing gunstar heroes than doing anything else in my life, thats how i know you do have the skills. but man how that weapon completely trivialize the game :P

  • @khhnator I don't see how the Flame Chaser weapon trivializes the game. It requires the most skill to use at its full potential. It may be extremely powerful, but full homing weapons are far easier to use, albeit slower.

  • @XeroShinobi well the issue is that not only it does humongous amounts of damage but also destroys many type of projectiles

  • @khhnator Yeah, and the weapon in question requires 100% manual control to use effectively. It's a fair trade off, it you ask me.

  • @nioor not sure what the hell he is, but he is seriously the easiest thing to kill. he does his weird face thing, sniffs you, and then drops a ball with hardly any explosion to it. thats it even on expert. lol

  • Seriously, even after all these years, I still never got what the fuck Melon Bread is, or does.

  • GIven that this isn't tool-assisted, how many times did you have to restart just to get the quickest possible time at Dice Palace? :P

  • also that old man is actually brown not white

  • the only boss that could've gave me nightmares was blaster force

  • i just saw two chasers and two lightning which should i get? im playing on the fusion emulator

  • well there was a time when i was playing gunstar heroes the die when Super fast and i still got a 1 2 3 and a lucky 5

  • @khhnator Don't forget the Lightning Chaser
