Noa- I liked this song because I thought that the music was great. I also liked the title "I gotta right to sing the blues" because I think that she is a great singer and wonder why she would ever think that she did not have the right.

I like Billy Holiday's version better but largely due to Barney Kessel's guitar solo one of the best most intelligent guitar solo's ever recorded..

I must have been born an old man. I love this music of my mother's generation. Ella, Harry James, Benny Goodman. And is that Teddy Wilson on Piano? They all went to school and learned how to read and write music before they discovered the instrument that would allow them to best express what they felt emotionally. And their emotions were deep and complex. Ella, fortunately for us, chose the voice as her instrument. Contemporary artists can't get this emotional range. I'm gonna stay old.
