Note this method will only work for Microsoft Windows XP and Vista.
In a Nut Shell:

1. Open Command Prompt

2. type in edit

3. type in:
@echo off
shutdown

-s shutdown

-l log off

-r restart

-t 30 (or any number depending on the amount of time you desire)

-c "Your Text Here"

4. save it as whatever.bat

5. Click and drag it into your start up folder and drive your family or friends crazy!
6. Enjoy!

  • Very nice vid. Somehow, you managed to stretch a 30 second explanation into 10 minutes.

  • Easier in Start>run>notepad

    or........Start>All programs>accessories>notepad

    Pretty easier

  • @macmad13 using notepad is quicker than a edit.com

  • omg wtf slow typers!

1 minute just to explain the title

and like 30 seconds to type one sentence!

  • cant open my Command Prompt it automatic shutdown

  • it's so funny to do that via radmin to friends without knowing =))

  • i did exactly as u said i open it the black command prompt opens then instantly closes

  • and its even MUCH easier just to set an timer into a bat shutdown command.

  • Thank you for this information. Found it very useful. Thanks again!

  • You're a dumb idiot

cuz its useful for people like me that leave stuff downloading while i sleep and see the download ETA and i put the command to shutdown around that time so my pc isn't on for no reason

what an idiotic thing to say

  • Not very useful!

Much easier to just hit the "Shutdown" button..! -.-
