Yundi Li, the brilliant young Chinese pianist has proved a technically astounding pianist who is by turns elegant and rambunctious, coolly expressive and white hot. - The New York Times

  • This version is much better than his old version which has 4 million views. The older version is a little fast and a little bit mechanical. This one is much more personal. It really touches my soul. Yundi is getting more mature, and more perfect. This is Yundi's best.

  • I don’t know about piano...the only standard that i am using is my heart. I can feel that this great. I love this song...i believe that the highest form of appreciation is to respect the taste of others...

  • other than Rachmaninoff's version of this piece, Yundi Li's is my favourite. There's a certain melancholy about it that I like.

  • This is a much better recording and playing than his other youtube post on the same piece.

  • @vicmatic12 Agreed. To add to the above:

Also, to be a superb musician, you need to not only listen to, but play other people's compositions. That is how you learn - in terms of technicality, interpretation, and many other musical aspects. That is how any musician gets started anyway! We learn from older compositions, and the history also allows us to make (if we want to) educated interpretations of new pieces to play or to compose. Oh, yeah. Stop saying "bro," it's very irritating!

  • pretty good

  • @Afewdollarsmore1 Musicians writing their work for the next generation like ours, they dedicate their lives to their work remain to be remembered and be heard by future generations. By studying and playing the work of previous musicians, we make their dreams come true, and from there came new musicians better than its predecessor, and we can also hear the beautiful music even if its creators have passed away. It's not about just copy, copy and copy.

  • @Afewdollarsmore1 Fuck-outta-here.
