Here I use the vesica pisces to develop the template that I use for the regulating lines for the yantra.

  • The triangles at 1:47 and 1:49 seem useless. Why did you trace them, then erase them?

"The triangles at 1:47 and 1:49 seem useless. Why did you trace them, then erase them?"

Duh? Those are a hexagram inscribed in a circle. They mark 30 and 60 degrees from the 'equator' of the circle. They are being contrasted to the square inscribed in the circle at that point which marks 45 degrees above and below the 'equator' of the circle. If you think about it, those are indicative of the 'ad triangulum' and 'ad quadratum' forms, as are the Masonic square and compasses.

  • Thank you for posting this. It answered many of my questions on the most precise construction of the Sri Yantra using only a compass and a straight edge.

  • "Thank you for posting this."

I am glad if I helped in any way. You may want to know that the large triangles are the same shape as the Great Pyramid cross-section and the large triangle in the Washington DC map as New Hampshire Ave.

The other lines are what I call astronomical lines and relate to the shapes in a Masonic Lodge floor. I have two videos about those that you may want to look at to see how they relate to this video.

The 52 degree triangle is used in churches too.

  • How cool. I want to do this in 3D. -Your new fan.

So did you ever do that??

  • Thank you! for the first time I made it correct :-)

  • layout guys just are not satisified with approximations...leaves to much room for error in future work...besides anybody can get "close" by luck...great video

  • @astrotometry

the purpose of the image is for you to contemplate the shape through meditation. The symbol will become 3 dimensional in your mind. The benefit is learning all the possibilities from within your mind. Actually drawing it with your own hands will bring to you an even deeper meaning if that is your desire.

    Enjoy!

  • Outstanding. As a student of sacred geometry I appreciate your method. Even though my training originates from the Greeks and not Indian sources, I believe this to be the most beautiful method. Since the Sri Yantra is a division of the whole based on the male/female principal it is a proportional drawing, not a measurement. It is also appropriate to start with the Vesica piscis as that is the birth principle. What can be more male/female than that!

    Thank you kindly
