Such astounding precision! I also love how this pianist fucking destroys the piano when he plays. Fantastic!

@jiamo not everyone has to "move" you know. people feel perfectuly musical inside as well. if those people "moved" more that'd be totally faking. and i hate those people. i think she's ok.

@anisometropie There are some theories about that ridiculous tempo. This sonata was written partially at Stalin's request (who himself was an amateur pianist). Shostakovich didn't want Stalin playing his music, so he wrote one extremely difficult part with an exaggerated tempo (starting at 2:19), knowing that Stalin would be too proud to admit that he couldn't play it. So Shostakovich probably didn't intend for it to be played quite so fast.

@Purebunny29 i think theyre reacting to her haircut more than anything else.

i deeply enjoyed watching her play. i got the impression of a passionate musician who is completely in control of her performance. reminds me of the way zappa played guitar. great piece and performance

I'm getting the impression that most negative commentators simply want to see more facial gesticulation...maybe try using your ears, and not your eyes when evaluating a musical performance?

almost sounds like a battle of the fine instruments... BRAVO!

God, I love this! I found this song on grooveshark and couldn't stop listening! It almost sounds like they're battling. At least, that's the feeling I get from it, though obviously music varies from person to person. :)
Her technique doesn't look Starker at all...........maybe from a different school.
For people who think her playing is not involved: I don't know if you guys ever seen yourselves play; but in my case, I look totally like a statue or "cold" when I play, although I didn't feel that way when I played. Could this be her case, too?
