Rock progressions and melodies are used over and over again in music. To think that you are the first to use a chord progression like Viva La Vida is naive and arrogant. Joe Satriani's new lawsuit against Coldplay is unsubstantiated and frankly, stupid.

I find the whole discussion of plagiarism on pop/rock genre naive. Simplicity is pretty much what defines them, and you can only do so much with 3 to 4 chords in a major scale.
Anyway, Coldplay has uses the same chord progression of Satriani's but not the same main melody. Satriani (and consequently Coldplay) does not use the same chord progression of this Enanitos Verdes' song but they have a very similar main melody.

OMG people! All three songs have like 4 similiar notes.... Does not mean they are stolen! There are only so many notes on a scale. Similar sequences are going to come up every so often!
