DragonBall Z Budokai Tenkaichi: SSJ3 Goku VS Majin Buu (Live Commentary)

During the Buu saga, during Goku's 24 hours on Earth (the hours that Baba had granted him so that he could fight in the World Tournament with Gohan, Vegeta, and the others) and during Buu's wild rampage upon society, the heroes of the series came into realization that the Dragon Radar was still at the Capsule Corporation HQ, in West City, which was conveniently the city that Majin Buu had set his sights on (in hopes to find Trunks and fight him there, even though he was truthfully at the lookout with the others). Trunks was sent to West City to find and retrieve the radar before Buu could get there.
If Buu had reached West City before Trunks could, then the radar would be destroyed along with the entire city, making the heroes unable to find the Dragonballs and wish back all those who were killed in his previous rampages.

Realizing that Trunks could use some extra time, Goku immediately head out to find Babidi and Buu and stall for time. This was also the scene where the Super Saiyan 3 transformation is seen for the first time onscreen (when Goku was demonstrating to them how Super Saiyan transformations work). Goku toyed around with Buu for a while, and eventually headed back to the Lookout, once he was confident that Trunks had gotten the radar and was heading back himself.

While at the Lookout, Piccolo had asked him if he believed he could have defeated Buu if he was really trying to while in his SSJ3 form. Goku replied saying that he wasn't sure, but if he did defeat Buu, then no one would be prepared for the next enemy to come.
Though I couldn't help but wonder - Could Goku have defeated Buu in his SSJ3 form if he was really trying?

Hey question... For this game, say you start as Normal Goku vs Buu, when you gather enough ki, can you transform to super saiyan, then after to super saiyan 2, then after that go to super saiyan 3 without choosing that form before the battle??? So just start out normal and then transform mid-battle? If you can't in this game, can you in any dbz game

Goku also says(when he fights kid buu) he maybe could have killed the fat majin buu when he was SSJ3...but he just wanted gohan and the rest to try and save the world.

Isn´t it true because Goku was dead at that point that he would be weaker then when he was alive.
