In partnership with Pearson Foundation, this first of a kind project answers the call of young women living in impoverished communities in eastern Uttar Pradesh who want change and hope in their lives through empowerment, training and meaningful employment.

Using a new innovative curriculum written for the project, the Teacher Role Model project will mentor, train and employ 400 young unemployed women as adult literacy and early childhood teachers to inspire the people of their communities. Not only will this project change the lives of 400 young women and their families, it will have a multiplier effect in changing the lives of 25,000 illiterate women and thousands more indirectly.

Armed with knapsacks full of literacy tools, 400 young teachers will soon ride into town to establish literacy centres for women and pre-schools for children.
