  • There were blacks that played in the late 1800's and early 1900's but they were fazed out and banned from playing so baseball was all white for 40+ years until Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier and opened the floodgates for blacks to be able to play baseball. He was not a hoax.

  • jackie robinson was one of the best african american baseball players ever. him, bo jackson, and now ryan howard. the negro leaugue had alot of better players during 30's to the 50's than any other white player. so he is not a hoax

  • Moses Fleetwood Walker was the first black player ...btw pay homage to branch rickey for it was his efforts that also allowed jackie to play

  • Wow i would do anything to have the strength of this man! When i was younger i started reading the kinds of things whites say about us (on sites like youtube, for example). Before that i had no idea that they still called us monkeys, lazy, stupid, etc. I was completely heartbroken. To think that a man went through that x1000 and still kept his confidence, and his dignity is unimaginable to me! When i think my life is getting hard and that the world isnt fair, i remember him. A true inspiration

  • One of the best baseballplayers ever!!! He would probably kick bottoms in any sport. A natural.

  • he was my favorite when i was a lil girl i feel sad i still have the memories

  • im white and jackie robinson is my hero. i can't believe how much abuse he took just to play baseball. this guy is a true american hero. rest in peace my friend.

  • @papasmurf520 like i said he deserves alot of credit..im just saying..for every 100 times jackies name is mentioned branch's name is mentioned once..branch made it happen..jackie also helped make it happen

  • @sciontcdude I disagree.

Jackie Robinson seemed to be just a great guy. A gentlemen. Thick skinned not to let criticism deter him or at least not let it show. You got to get him credit. He was talented and had a stable head on his shoulders.

  • Taking nothing away from the great Jackie Robinson.I don't get something. All the articles i have read tell the story of Robinson "breaking the color barrier" and how brave he was, and how wonderful a pioneer he was. NOT ONE BIT OF CREDIT is given to the man responsible for it all...Branch Rickey. Without Rickey's guts, determination, and bravery of his own, who knows how long it would have been for this barrier to be broken. Jackie Robinson was hand picked by Rickey to be the first black player

  • america is still the same today if not worse.

  • This was a great film. The actor who played Jackie did such a great job If you did not get a chance to see it. it should be appearing on PBS next month.!!!
