Thorny Waterlily (originally Gashiyeon) is a Korean fictional novel about two homosexual lovers, (based on real people) Jung Yunho and Kim Jaejoong, who meet again after 2 years of sepatation. By then Yunho is married to a woman who is expecting their first child. However, feelings are still alive between the lovers, and neither of them can deny it for long, in spite of their current situation.

Thorny Waterlily is the most famous and most contradictional story about Yunjae in Korea, that constantly splits the fandom into supporters and non-supporters. The antis don't like it for the decadent and aggressive way the main characters are portrayed in it.

However, the undeniable excellence of the story roots in the naturalistic and still artistic way of describing the inner and outer trumoil of the lovers, torn between their feelings and the norms of society, unable to avoid their destiny.
