Every form of media has had at one point the power to completely fixate and transfix . The 16th century had their books and, as BAFTA found out when speaking to game designer Will Wright, our generation has computer games.
Games have a power to transport players to another world where the only limitations are what a programmer can imagine. And in a fast moving media world, the next generation of games requires in turn a new generation of programmers to design them. Enter BAFTA Guru.
Free from the limitations of traditional performing arts, BAFTA Guru aims to offer would-be programmers a way of developing their skills, learning from industry greats. The gaming world needs fresh creative talent, and BAFTA Guru is there to source it and offer opportunities to those who may never have realized their potential.

This is a great view on the whole "video games are addictive" debate. The media always seam to take fun in demonising video games. But Will's argument really puts it into perspective.

Yahtzee also recently came to the defense of "big fat losers like me who just want to play single player games on their own and don't understand why society considers this more pathetic than reading Harry Potter books on your own."
