I didnt believe what Jimmy Carter said about racism against Obama. I thought it was Carter doing the Carter thing again. But reading these comments, the hate, its very apparent he was right. I am shocked and appalled at the shallowness here. Some of you people truly disgust me. You have no depth of character, no reason, no concience. You make me sick. When I look at Obama I do not see his skin color! I see a man who is truly trying to do what he believes is best for the USA. Rant all you want.

I dont understand why the issue of HEALTH CARE has become a fight between CONSERVATIVES and LIBERALS. If somebody becomes seriously ill, INSURANCE COMPANIES wont care if that person is conservative or liberal, they will try to DENY COVERAGE no matter what. The hardships of our ECONOMY affect the same conservatives and liberals. Every body knows that the cost of health care has doubled in the last 10 years, and is rising almost EXPONENTIALLY. How long are we going to wait to fix this problem?

Did you hear his press conference where both he (Gates) and Cartwright gave their reasoning behind the DOD's decision? How in the hell is any of what they said "capitulation"? Robert gates will never choose to step down military presence in the world? Really? It looks to me that by cutting funding for the F22 fighter that gates by extension is choosing to weaken Americas ability to project its strength.

Apparently the trajectory of the actions gates and this administration is taking is too broad for you to grasp. One only has to look at history to realize what the consequences of capitulation are. You dont even have to look more than 20 years back to see. But Americans of your 'caliber' are dulled on sitcoms and action movies to give you your opinion and tug you to a reality you find comfortable.

Gates on 9/17 said: "These capabilities offer a variety of options to detect, track and shoot down enemy missiles. This allows us to deploy a distributive sensor network rather than a single fixed site, like the kind slated for the Czech Republic, enabling greater survivability and adaptability." What's wrong with that?

Another genius. If you had bothered to listen to Gates' long press conference where he defended his decision, you would know 1) it wasn't a "step down" but merely a change in strategy that would enhance the defense of our allies and 2) he took ownership over the decision to change direction, which was a reversal of his decision to put the missiles there in the first place. Look at DOD's website and read the transcript of Gates' and Cartwright's press conference on 9/17.

The pentagon (aka Robert Gates) will NEVER choose to step down military presence ANYWHERE in the world.

If you don't understand that then you will not understand the recent Iraq war, Afganistan war, vietnam war, Korean war or any other outpost unit we have in the world.
