  • something to be learned from the greatest players in the game...your clubs aren't just one trick ponies. hogan never needed a bushnell or gps to figure out what club he wanted to use. he played enough and hit enough balls different distances/trajectories with all his clubs and developed a tremendous sense of feel that simply can't be taught. see the shot, feel the shot, and hit the shot. hogan might have been able to pull a 5 or 6 iron here, but obviously he didn't think it was called for.

  • @atlantaguy34 wow! thanks for taking my light hearted comment so seriously. you are obviously the superior being.

  • @95gashead

if you were being sarcastic and light hearted I do apologize. I see too many people ripping on ben hogan and it drives (pun) me nuts!!! sorry bro.

  • hogans 4 iron was probably 190-200 average but it was a 30 degree 4 iron

  • @95gashead thats interesting math there but let me give you a couple variables....

x=ball technology back then was much different

y= shaft and clubhead technology was far inferior back then as well...

I challenge you to try and hit a 1950s 4 iron with a 1950s ball and I bet you cant even come close to carrying it 155 yards.

  • hogan's 4 iron=bubba's half swing w/lob wedge

  • @mikepownzall

"Golf"? What's that? I thought we were supposed to play "who can hit the highest-numbered club at any given distance, no matter how much you have to smash it."

  • Full 4 iron (1960) = full 5 iron (present day)....uphill = full 6 iron.... into the wind = full 7 iron. Wait, why am I trying to justify what club he uses? It's not how, it's how many. And he uses less. What a beast.
