FACTS
It is estim ated that 1.5 m illion Am ericans are currently diagnosed w ith Parkinson's disease. 50,000 to 60,000
more are diagnosed each year.
It is believed that 10% of these are under 49, w ith a good m ajority in their late teens, 20's, 30's, and 40's. These
individuals are graduating college, starting careers, relationships, families, and trying to build a future for
themselves and their loved ones.
These are referred to as being diagnosed as "young onset".
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The film project is a documentary that will give the audience a front row seat into the normally private lives of six
people diagnosed w ith young onset Parkinson's disease. The film w ill be unscripted, real, at times humorous and
other times shocking. It will show them living life as close to or better then before diagnosis. It will show them
accommodating these symptoms and side effects despite the daily challenges thrown at them by the symptoms
of the disease and side effects of the various medications.

  • God bless you, you are a hero...

  • I am happy you enjoyed the piece. A hero? i dont think so. Crazy for showing my most private moments to the world in order to raise awareness? Definately!

Now only if $15,000 would fall into my lap so my filmmaker and I can finish the documentary. He has 5+ hours of me but we also want to add the positive stories of at least 5 or 6 others.

  • Hi Tom, I have yong onset PD as well. All I can say is that I can relate!!! Everyday is a challenge and a struggle, but not trying to fight PD is worse than the PD itself. Keep healthy and thank you for having the courage to share this.

  • Many thanks for sharing this, and congratulations on your courage to do so. I understand completely what you have gone thru and go thru eveyday. I was diagnosed at age 34 and am now 53, 19 years of living with Parkinson's. Unfortunately I was not in a working environment that was as supportive as yours appears to be in this video and I had to recently stop working. Alll the best to you!!

  • I want to thank you so much. I'm 22 and was recently diagnosed, and it's people like you who help people like me research. It started as tremers and cramping, but recently i noticed i started starting and freezing and as the symptoms got worse i spoke to my doctor. he tested me for epilepsy and then dropped it when the tests where negative. After i moved in with my bf i found it hard to hide my tremers and told me to get a second opinion. Sleeping is the hardest part imho tho.

  • thanks for enlightening me in this disease.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. Im 21 and just been diagnosed with Parkinson's . I first started with a twitch in my hand. My friends and family have started to notice that my speech is deteriorating. This has really inspired me in so many ways. Thanks to you my outlook is more positive. Thank you!

  • FANTASTIC video! My hat goes off to you. In the middle of the video it shows you coming back from the bathroom in the middle of the night. I noticed that in one of these instances you crawl back to the bathroom. If it's not too much trouble, can you explain why you crawled instead of walking back to bed that one time?

Any chance you can tell us your first symptoms and what tests were donee before you were diagnosed with the disease?

  • @UndeadDiva is he ok?

  • Thanks for posting such a well done chronicle of your life with PD. It is an inspiration to us all with early-onset PD...that diagnosis does not equal death sentence. May I post it on the Dopadoc's Parkinson's Journal?

  • "The Silencing Waters of Leon Creek" et al.

From another at Kelly AFB with PD!
