A video of the D-Day landing beaches in France. Get out the tissues - it's a bit emotional.

  • i had the pleasure of attending the dday celebrations here in 2006, i spoke to many veterans who landed HERE the stories are heartfelt and genuine, i had to hold back tears, the point du hoc etc are wonderful places to visit .when you stand on the cliffs next to the tank etc the enormity of the task the british soldiers had to endure is unbelievable,Salute all our veterans, their bravery guaranteed our freedom from the nazi regime. RIP HEROES ALL.

  • My great grand-dad was in the D-Day Landings, and we have a picture of him walking along one of the floating walkways... it was amazing to see the real place, and one of the walkways still there... it really brought the photo to life.

  • My uncle Fred was among the first to land on this beach with his Pioneer Assault Platoon, 1st Battalion, Royal Hampshire Regiment in 231st Brigade. Their objective..Secure the beach and then secure the road out of Arrowmanche to Bayeux clearing any mines which was their job but that was when the fun started when a Tiger Tank rolled in to view coming down the road!

  • Thank you very much in memory of my father Roland. I remember when he spoke of Arromanches

  • This is one of the most fascinating places I have ever been in my entire life so far.

  • @churchillfan By then it would be the communist regime and there was no german airforce to worry about.

  • A great day in history and all of those that served and fought were hero's.

My father was on Gold Beach and at Dunkirk.

  • US war cemetery on Colleville-sur-Mer:

    9,387 white crosses.

  • Hello, I'm from Holland, and I will say: thanks all soldiers of the Allies who fought and/or died on that day, as I said, I life in holland, and this country never became a free country without the courage of those brave guys, thanks American, Canadian and British people. I was there in Normandy for vacation, and I visited the most beautifull places I ever seen, even 9 thousands of American buried soldiers

ow yeah, watch my Airborne video on my channel

  • Just found a book about the war in the desert where my father fought, he wrote in the book that he landed at the Arromanches Beach on D-Day, I always thought he landed at SWORD. Thankls for the video.

  • In Summer 2006 I walked to the waters edge at Arromanches with my daughter, then aged 8, AND WE THEN TURNED AROUND TO FACE THE TOWN; what we then saw was the expanse of beach that the young allies would have had to run across into incoming gunfire to commence the invasion of Normandy. I have to say that the prospect of covering that distance, under fire, was the single most gut-wrenching moment of my life, and I of course didn't have to do it.
