I saw one when I was 8 back in '89. It went almost parallel to the horizon. Back then I thought it was a fighting plane or something.
But I found it rather weird, because I did not hear anything. Amazing how our atmosphere works.

i saw one at 12:08 am here in utah it lit the whole sky up and fell in the center of my city but it went dark before it hit.

I live just north of where it happened (Draper). I didn't get to hear or see anything, but my friends were on their way to my house when it happened. And they saw it as they went by spanish fork, lehi.... very cool. I'm jealous!
