Note: This video was made before the Cataclysm patch. The game have better water, textures and shadow now, and the results in this video may no longer be correct! Thank you!

This is World of Warcraft with optimal graphic settings for the new Macbook pro 13 mid 2010 (nvidia 320m edition).

I use the following settings:
Native res.
multisampling - 1x ( the difference between 1x and 2x is ~20fps)
Everything at max except for:
shadows - medium (looks the same as high, and u gain ~15 fps.)
draw distance - medium (looks the same as high, and u gain ~3 fps.)
Enviromental detail - medium (looks the same as high, and u gain ~2 fps.)
Texture filtering - medium (looks the same as high, and u gain ~5 fps.)

I get around 10fps more when I'm not using the recording program!

In the last part of the video you will learn how to cap the fps.
you need to write the following in the chat menu ingame: /console maxfps X, X being the fps number you wish to cap it at. I use 40.
This will allow the computer to save power thus reducing heat, fan speed, and get you a battery boost!

It is thanks to KadMac25 that I bought this laptop. In his video he wanted to show how the max settings in WoW would run on this laptop. And I want to show what the optimal graphic settings are. Thanks KadMac!!

I get around 4h of playing WoW nonstop when I cap my fps to 30 with the settings above. The computer case is cool all the time(cpu around 68C) and the fan noice is very quite (running around 2500 - 3000rpm).

Hope this helps people how may want to invest in the best portable laptop on the market!!

No I believe that snow leopard will actually help your laptop to get better performance so thats not the reason why your laptop runs WoW so poorly.

I really would like to help you, but it's quite hard when I don't have access to you laptop. Good luck m8

  • If you have the latest snow leopard and all the drivers updated you should be fine.

If you still have problem with running WoW I can guarantee you that somethings wrong with your macbook.

The only purpose of this video is to educate people in how their settings should be for maximum performance and graphic quality.

Send me a note if you want me to help you more!

    Cheers

But since the shattering took place in late november, that patch made changes to the graphic in the game aswell.

Everything from water to shadows and textures have better quality now.

What you need to do is to set water and shadow to low and that should do the trick. I don't own the macbook pro anymore cause I bought myself an Imac 27 so I can't be sure that those changes in the setting will suffice, but give it a try atleast, and good luck

hehe funny that people say that.

Well I thought that every macbook pro 13 with nvidia 320m would have the exact performance.

Every single shot in this video is taken while playing WoW on my macbook pro13 in june 2010.

the 320m is actually not that bad, it has a good balance between low power consumtion and performance.

Mind you, WoW is a 6year old game so it should't be a problem to get great fps ingame.

  • @dannybighair yeah >.> hmmm hopefully the guy who made this vid will respond. My imac downstairs runs at 60 fps but it does not have snow lep. , could snow lep. be the reason my laptop runs so slowly on low settings with a wiped HD?

  • @soryn305

Yeah I don't really know how his fps is so high. Tbh the 320m is a pretty shoddy graphics card. There's something fishy going on here...
