  • Very entertaining video.

  • @Learn2Bass Thank you for your comment. Enjoy.

  • hi there

I'm new to these CBGs, and I want to ask you about the G string: it is better to be wound ? I want to use Ernie Ball electrics/acoustics sets od .012

and also electric or acoustics strings ?

    thanks !

  • @TheBrotherCane Thank you for your interest and question. I am using strings ADg (tuned GDg) from a medium pack of strings. If you wanted to use an unwound g string for the A string, it would need to be at least a .020 Although, the tone may be better with the wound string. It adds some bass. This instrument is acoustic, so I am using phosphor bronze strings. I hope this clarifies the situation. Enjoy your practice.

  • @TheBrotherCane Thank you for your reply. Good choice. Darren builds some very fine CBGs. As you may know, I own a few. I believe considering your approach, you will find the lessons fun and useful. In general, they offer an exploration of open tuning that makes it possible to figure out songs and create your own arrangements. Once you get into your practice, feel free to write if any questions arise. I look forward to hearing about your discoveries. Enjoy.

  • but not for some chords and sing along stuff, I always stick to delta bluesy improv., not too much thinking, just playin'

I' got myself my first slides also and I was thrilled and I want to start learning playing these CBGs, It will be a nice addition to my easy riding and my Bues-Hard Rock and all in between fixation

So, as soon as I'll get money for, I'll buy all your cds, I love the way you teach, and your style also

You and Darren are my inspiration, I owe you both

    THANKS !

  • @KeniLeeBurgess Thank YOU !!!

I've just got myself on eBay my first 4 string reso CBG from your friend Darren "Big Daddy", not shipped yet

I've been playing (maybe it is too much said :)) at home only for the last 12 years in the week-ends and at holydays on dreadnoughts, Strats, LPs and Explorer guitars, and even I still love them through my Marshall I always come back to my old acoustic, especially in the evenings (I still need a nice porch),

  • @Aweber87 Thank you for your interest and comment. Enjoy your new build.

  • Also very good job explaining.. I'm building one now and I just need the strings to test it out
