@ajcollins0221 The canoe is slightly tippy but you get used to it very quickly. I have never flipped over in the canoe even in the sea with around 1 meter waves.
-
@TheOneCadet In South Africa the cost can be between R1500 to R3000 depend on if you use Marine or External ply and Polyester or Epoxy Resin.
-
@Leeso2011 I used 6mm ply. The plans can be found at bateau2 dot com/free/cheapcanoe dot htm
Also see my web site regarduing this canoe at bccanoe dot co dot za"

@gavocrazy At that time, the canoe was going down to the coast so the dolphins seemed fitting. The dolphins are however no longer on the canoe. see bccanoe.co.za

why the dolphins?

Great job. Cheap materials does not always mean cheap boat.

@robbersteve The lake the the first part of the video is in an old quarry, Monument Park, Pretoria. The second is on a lagoon near Langebaan. The last is on a lake called Eikenhof near Grabouw.

Im looking at building this design, but had concerns when loaded with camping gear it may sit low in the water. Do you think its possible to raise the sides up higher and add an optional outrigger for bigger, offshore trips?

@guerd87 I'm sure it's possible. You cound maybe look at the larger version of this canoe. Do a google search for "Nice Canoe 16"
Do a search on google for canoe outriggers. This is something I also want to add to my canoe
