Moncton Fire responded to a natural gas leak on Milner Road around 3 P.M. this afternoon. Enbridge gas was already on scene and you could smell the gas from a couple of blocks away and just a few meters from Bessborough School where there were many children outside playing. Firefighters stood by while workers try to stop the leak. Gas was spraying into the air and a very strong smell in the road construction area. A worker dug around the leaking pipe and was able to shut off the leak a few minutes later. Video aired on CTV News with Steve Murphy

  • I go to school to work on these mains and the fire extinguisher is not to put out the burning gas. It is to put out your burning buddy.

  • I dunno nuthin' about natural gas, but I have to wonder how much good that little fire extinguisher would do in case of a fire.
