    Track 5

Youtube won't let me post the url to it on Amazon, but it is track 5 on the cd edition of ASFAS the same as it always has been...

  • @peternewcastleupon perhaps you should all meet up for a re-union to share memories of the Paper Lads,I always think of Glyn Edwards as Dave the barman in Minder.2012 could be the year you all meet up again.

  • weird....this song seems to have disappeared from the renaissance catalog...at least on downloads. Crazy licensing issues, i'd guess. It's now not even available on the song for all seasons album (got rid of my LP in the 80's.....should'a known better)

  • @Isleofskye I guess it's just the lazy, "swinging" rhythm of the studio version that doesn't sit too well with me. I like the rhythm of this version better -- it's faster and more urgent, so it reflects the fast-paced lifestyle of the paper lads better.

If you could take this version and find a way to extend it to the length of the album version (perhaps using some of the instrumental bits from the soundtrack), that would be almost perfect.

Each to their own, my friend.

I was delighted when I just found this video but, in my opinion, this soundtrack doesn't even begin to compare with the studio arrangement which is so much more deeper and melodic.

This is a mish-mash without the strong orchestral sequences...

  • @ahagestedt

They wpuld have to call it "The Paper Persons"..lol

  • I always imagined the show was about reporters and not delivery boys. Then again, I'm not British so I wasn't sure what the exact meaning of "paper lads" was.

  • brings back some very happy memories thanks for posting
