This is the story of our pheasants and their journey to their new home. These birds are ethereal! Hopefully I can hand tame them. Michelle is already tolerating me standing next her while she is on her perch and Barack doesn't run and hide when I go into the coop, so there is hope! I thought is was fitting to name them after the president and first lady since it is a new beginning for everyone! Hopefully they will breed in the spring (I am referring to the birds - I don't want to go there about the first couple!) I just made myself laugh out loud so I had to leave that awkward bit of grammar intact! Enjoy!

  • can these be kept with chickens?

  • @nicholasbhicks Yes, but they require a covered coop as they are not very tame and will fly away.

  • oh thanks do u still have your turkeys or did they die from to much weight? I had two midget white turkeys that died randomly at 7 month old.

  • @portugal5698 They are still with me. I expect them to keel over any day, but so far they are happy and healthy! :-)

  • do they get along with chickens and do they fly away when you let them free range?

  • @portugal5698

They get along fine with chickens and turkeys. They keep to themselves, for the most part. I don't let them free range because they would fly away, and also I have so many predators around here. They have a huge enclosure and they like that just fine. :-)

  • Didn't meen to come off critical just making sure you knew, lots of opinions on it in the right crowd. I'm sure babies would still have an outlet some where. Just make sure you don't over crowd them and you should have lots of fun with them.
