Early voting has begun, and problems are already emerging at the polls. In West Virginia, voters using touchscreen machines have claimed their votes were switched from Democrat to Republican. In North Carolina, a group of McCain supporters heckled a group of mostly black supporters of Barack Obama. In Ohio, Republicans are being accused of trying to scare newly registered voters by filing lawsuits that question their eligibility. We speak to NYU professor Mark Crispin Miller, author of Loser Take All: Election Fraud and the Subversion of Democracy.

In Canada we just use good old paper and pencil ballot voting. I know our population is not nearly as big but we're spread out all over and we can still get the results in usually by midnight EST. I don't think we have ever run into the problem of voting fraud like in the U.S. it makes me wonder how so many people can trust computers not to be compromised when there have been so much suspicion in the past.
The U.S.A. has long laid claim to being the "Leader of the Free World", yet we can't hold an election without massive fraud on the part of those charged with protecting the integrity of the election. We can't have democracy with the 2 party system. We need ranked voting, with instant run-offs, and we need to abolish the Electoral College. We also need a truly non-partisan body to oversee the deployment of realiable voting technology. Maybe a couple of the big universitys could take that on?
This is corruption at the apogee of its most pernicious...The DOJ is in Cheney's "pocket"...If this is allowed to be initiated, the only way to deflect this type of action is in DROVES of NUMBERS, as that will make it more difficult to shunt and flip the votes....My strongest desires is that people will be made aware of this heinous practice, and forward this to all of their friends and constituents.
I voted early today in NC on an electronic machine. The machine I voted on at least appeared to create a paper record of the vote on a register tape. You could see the person you voted for being printed out.
Prof. Miller, if you ever watch this YT video, you should probably add the 1992 NC Helms-Gantt Senate race onto your list of "Bradley effect" possibilities.
Hi thanks so much for posting this. I was looking for this exact segment so i can share it with everyone i know. it's appalling how manipulated the elections in the US are, we live with a false sense of democracy in this country. That's why its our responsibility to educate ourselves and other and continue to challenge and stop those things which are wrong. Thanks again!
