An explained diagram is worth a whole book of information. Thanks for unveiling the mystery of old votage regulators. I knew what they did, but never exactly HOW. It never occured to me that you could cut voltage to the field coils to shut off the generator nicely. I thought that the frame of the car just ate up all that heat. I guess I was too simple minded and thought the generator was like the bicycle dynamos ;)
