Part 1 of 2
~Intro & Ride-Thru~
~Please Rate & Respond~
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize at the Haunted Mansion! Originally opened at Disneyland in 1969, the Haunted Mansion quickly became a fan favorite and it was quickly decided to open a second, expanded version at Floridas Magic Kingdom. The Mansion features a ride through a decrepit Victorian Mansion, complete with peeling flocked wallpaper and flickering gas fixtures.

During the trip, you will be guided by your Ghost Host through a variety of scenes on a grand tour of the rooms and grounds. You will see the Mansion's foyer, portrait gallery, and entrance hall. Then, you will walk the halls and visit the Library and ascend the stairs and speed through the halls to participate in a Séance. Soon, you will attend a dance in the ballroom and tour the Mansion's other rooms and then the grounds.

This video was filmed without flash or night-vision to showcase the Mansions effects in the proper darkness required shortly after the major September 13th 2007 refurbishment. The Mansion underwent extensive renovations, adding new scenes and repairing effects which had not functioned for many years due to low upkeep budgets. Now, it shines (or, perhaps, emits an-earthly glow) in all it's glory.

  • Can an "expert" please answer me a question: In watching videos of The Haunted Mansion and from personal experience of actually being there, why is it that sometimes like 75% of the guests are inside the foyer before the narration begins and the portrait begins to change and other times (as is the case in this video) no one is yet inside before the show begins? Obviously the first scenario is preferred so that everyone can experience the whole show.

  • @letterpeopleland Well, it's mainly like that for the sake of expediency and getting more guests into the ride faster. It used to be much better. When I was last there I was the first in line and immediately after the doors opened I practically ran in so I wouldn't miss the portrait... and it was nearly half-way done transforming. Probably a good choice for Disney to make in terms of logistics, but a terrible decision to make in terms of good showmanship.

  • what kind of camera did you use

  • Read the description ;-) I didn't make this video, I found it on Mousebits and re-uploaded it to Youtube with credit.

  • do you mind if i reupload it if i give credit

  • Uh, no. Why would you need to exactly...?
