@miamiwax He's a stage entertainer used to addressing multiple people, and really it's just plain weird to stare at a single camera and think and talk if you're not used to it.

They hired Gilbert Gottfried... nothing he's ever done has been "tasteful"... didn't Aflac know that before they hired him?

I can't stand apologists, so I dumped Aflack after they fired him to save face. Incidentally Penn, stop apologizing for your friends. & Gilbert shouldn't apologize either.

Thanks for commenting on the ridiculous Gilbert thing. I haven't watched any else of these Penn Points but atleast in this one the constant camera changes, turns and the way Penn always leans and weaves from side to side were annoying.

AFLAC had every right to fire Gilbert. But Gilbert does what Gilbert has always done . He's made a career off of tasteless jokes and comments. AFLAC hired him with this knowledge. Had he made this comment as the AFLAC duck, I'd agree with you. But his face isn't associated with AFLAC. In fact, his voice wasn't even associated with his comments. It was a Twitter post. What he says or does on his own personal time should have no bearing on what he does on the clock. That's my problem with this.
I don't think it's a matter of whether he knew how bad the earthquake was. The jokes were incredibly tame and until the media repeated what he said, the only people who would have been exposed to them are his Twitter followers, who are probably not the type who would be offended by those tweets. If you follow him on Twitter, it's like you bought a ticket to his stand-up, in which case, buyer beware. If the media repeated his stand-up all the time, he'd probably offend people every day.

@miamiwax He's a stage entertainer, looking left and right is ingrained in him. At least he got rid of the handheld camera.
