Belize Placencia Xunantunich

My trip to Belize where I visited Placencia, Xunanunich, and Ranguana Caye.

Accommodations: We stayed at a cute beach bungalow called Barnacle Bill's which is located on Maya Beach just 10 min north of Placencia. This was the highlight of our trip as there are only 2 bungalows total so the beachfront is all yours!

Activities:
+ Cockscomb Basin/Jaguar Preserve - where we hiked through the jungle and learned about the cool plant whose leaves close up when you touch them! We also swam in the refreshing waterfalls, and floated down the river in a tube
+ Xunantunich Mayan Ruins - hike to the top of the ruins and you can see Guatemala!
+ Snorkeling at Ranguana Caye - where we swam with nurse sharks and sting rays
+ Monkey River - where we searched for manatees in the lagoon

Spent a lot of time in Belize in the 90's. I love the country, the people and the culture, not to mention the mind blowing natural scenery. I'm living in Thailand now, not the worst country to live, but Belize has stolen my heart forever. Just hope that the Belizean voters are gonna vote the incumbent UDP bastards out, 'cause they're ruining paradise. Go Belize Go!

@missdigitalchick So do I, but it's a long way from BKK. Next holiday we might go to Krabi and cook our own rice 'n' beans chicken stew, eat it, close our eyes and imagine we're on one of the cayes ;-)
