she responds very well, just wait, once she conquers this milestone she will be great at what ever she wants. Just watching her I see this beautiful little girl that just wants to tell wonderous stories. Mark my words, she is going to be a marvolous adult and tell her story to help others. when you/your wife of whatever, was pregnant with shira, were they able to tell that she was going to have SMA before she was born? if they were how far along in the pregnancy was it detected? or was it all just a shock?

We were only tested for Spina bifida and Down Syndrome using the nuchal translucency. We did not know of any history of genetic disorders in our family unfortunately. Yes there is a way to check for SMA invitro just ask your doctor.
