    no worries

this is more common in 7.25 inch radius necks due to more friction/wear from vibrato strings

9.5 inch and greater don't seem to be affected as much, which probably explains why you don't see it so much anymore

since clapton moved onto 9.5 none of his newer guitars seem to be affected

the worst/best example has to be the late danny gatton's 1953 tele: nearly all worn off

  • @abellendophobe

Ah, I checked it out and you're right; that is worn varnish. I concede my point, thanks for clearing it up..

  • @andrus108

you dont know what you are f-in talking about either

it's worn varnish. the unprotected maple darkens from finger sweat.

dirt only collects allot on satin finish maple fret boards and this tele wouldn't have that as it 1950s

  • @mrmushroomsoup

you and shimokita2 appear to not know what the f"ck you are talking about

it's worn off varnish on the fret board through years of playing

obviously you never seen clapton's blackie or brownie guitars either

  • @roknfnrol maybe too new... neck pickup still Fender orginal... later Keef will have a bucker...

    :-)

  • If it ain't tight it ain't right, and dat shit is tight!

  • @jotu1n

That guitar was already 20 years old in this video. And Keith probably wasn't the original owner of the guitar either. Fret wear, the finish is worn. Dirt, haha.

  • That Supra sounds fucking great!!

  • @jotu1n dude that's not wear and tear, shimokita2 is right. It's dirt. IF it was wear and tear, why is it that most maple fretboard teles owned by rockstars don't look like that?
