From the 1985 "Gasoline in Your Eye" tape.

This track wasn't released on any CV album, but appears on the 1991 Gray Area of Mute comp "The Tyranny of the Beat".

  • This is definitely pulled from 70s Kraftwerk, but in an awersome way. I dig everything these guys did from their 70s tape loops to the 90s techno junk. Every album can be pretty much listened to from beginning to end.

  • Wow, that is a really stunning piece of music.

Thanks a lot for the upload!

  • this song iz MAD. thanx4posting.

  • Sounds like everithing Front 242 would from 1985 forward.

  • if you mean the echoed rims/handclaps by saying 'pulled from kraftwerk' you might think about 'musique non stop', which was released by kraftwrk one year after this track by cabaret voltaire

  • my faithful VHS copy died many years ago, nice to see it again

  • @nuwavghost

well there is synth britannia documentary on how british culture adopted german kraut form as an influence. joy division adopted motorik rhytm of neu etc.

  • Audio was available on "Listening Up with Cabaret Volatire" that came out in the 90's.

  • @TheHarecat

...without "Crash" there'd probably be no "Mute Records" (home for CV too) at all, so he's synth pop godfather by default, I think!

  • @TheHarecat

Do you mean "Synth Britannia"? I watched it on YouTube, an excellent film. I love all these synth bands from the genuine era. Sheffield in the film looks very much like my native city, very industrial. Cabaret Voltaire I'd known since late 90s but only now begin to fully discover how many great tracks they penned. As for JG Ballard, he's probably the most rock'n'roll writer ever

with artists as different as Joy Division, The Normal, Human League and Klaxons referencing his books.

  • @sivoxestcanta Yeah, know what you mean. Stunning track. All those influences. Can't help thinking of JG Ballard's "Crash". Did you catch Richard H Kirk on the recent BBC 4 Synth doc?
