I bought the demonstration VCD on this during the 90s but only watched it last week. The 42 form Yang Style Taichi was modified from the original by a guy called Li De Yin, chief coriographer of Tang Taichi for the 11th Asian Game, chief judge for Chinese National Taiji quan and jian. He was also a famous judge for Yang style Taichi internationally and a lecturer in China People University. The person demonstrating is Chen Si Tan, Taichi champion for 1993 International Wushu competition and 1990 Beijing 11th Asian Games. He won over 30 gold medals for Taiji Quan and known as Taiji prince.

The strokes were elegance for display, and it ends there.

  • whats the name of this song?

  • I have no idea, it came with the package.

  • Hey, denzuko1. Check the title"Chen Si Tan" send by "fuzzymonk". That's 42 form demo by same person. Too bad, missing the begining part a little bit. It's possible that you change the title?

  • The clip I posted come from a VCD from China in 1997. It was with title "42 forms of Yang Tai Chi" and the narator was Li De Yin.

  • This is NOT the 42 style competition form. It's a good video but the title is extremely misleading. Another search of 42 form will reveal the same demonstrator doing the TRUE international competition form, which is a combination of Yang, Chen, Sun, Wu moves.

The demonstration happening here is in fact the "Yang Style 40 Movement Competition Form", again, NOT THE "42 movement international form"!!!

  • Hi, do you have the video of this Taichi master performing the Chen style 37 movements?

  • This is not the combined 42 movements competition routine. Chen Sitan was also world champion in '97 and he was a national chinese karaoke champion :)

  • hello

do u know the different between 42 tai ji and 40 tai ji?

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Exactly physicalcult:)

The chinese department of athletic, martial arts and health, decided to unifye TaiChi, and improve it in some ways.

Some movements was only practised in one direction, to the left or the right, inside the different styles, and it's understandeble, that in martial arts, both sides must be equaly good/strong.

The result is Tai Chi Chuan National Style, which, just as says above, today is the most common competition form.

And don't we all love it:)

  • Hey guys, it seems to be that there is a lot of confusion here. This is a current wushu competition form for Taiji. It is called the 'Taiji 42 form' although sometimes it is called the 'Yang 42 form' even though it is a mixture of Yang, Chen and to a lesser extent Wu and Sun styles. The person credited with it's creation is Master Li De Yin. If you go to any Modern Wushu Competitions you will see that this is the most popular choice of form amongst competitors in the Taiji sections.

  • Hi! denzuko1, I'm sorry about what I was put here 10 months ago. That time I restarted to practice TaiJi Quan about half year. Now, I know more about the titles people give to TaiJi Quan. Some people wiould say 40 and some would say 42. This just like 10-form, someone said 8-form. And 24-form, some people would say 16-form. It's all depents how you count those forms. And THANK YOU for sharing this beautiful video!
