Robert Redford and Meryl Streep in Out of Africa-marking the 125th anniversary of the birth of Karen Blixen, Danish writer. I have always loved this movie! Won 7 Oscars! Ngong Hills in Kenya, Africa - Karen Blixen and Denys Finch Hatton. Based on a true story. Kiss The Rain by Yiruma, Lonely Shepherd by Gheorghe Zamfir.
In 1918 Karen Blixen met the English aristocrat and army officer Denys Finch Hatton (1887-1931), who was a trader and safari leader in East Africa. The meeting led to the start of a long love affair, the nature of which is apparent in Karen Blixen's Letters from Africa; she writes, for example, to her brother Thomas Dinesen on August 3 1924: "I believe that for all time and eternity I am bound to Denys, to love the ground he walks upon, to be happy beyond words when he is here, and to suffer worse than death many times when he leaves..." Beautifully done - it's the magic of romance and Africa's unique nature.
This still remains one of the best movies I have ever seen.
