@missgattalk21dotcom Interesting. I actually find him to be enjoyable and engaging. His mouse vs. the cobra line is classic. The fake enthusiasm of most modern TV hosts is nauseating.

tv presenters were so STIFF back in the day!

6:50 I mean... when they recorded this interview, music was just about going down hill. Desmond would have been disgusted with the music now lol.

I know, but I think Kate Bush played a pretty unique role, especially in terms of her mix of different dancing(I think she was one of the first, if not the first, to incorporate a wireless headset so she could sing and dance freely), her combination of electronic and traditional instruments, and her willingness to be nerdy(I am pretty nerdy myself, big shock) and funny in her lyrics. I can't think of any other female performer at that time who better countered Madonna.

@LordNifty Kate wasn't the only influential female singer-songwriter available. You still had Joni Mitchell, Patti Smith, Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks, Siouxsie Sioux, etc.

But who would have been there to prepare a counter-influence to Madonna,Tiffany, etc.?
Her look at 7:06 is amazing!!! She's so beautiful
