Remove DRM From Kindle Ebooks

Step 1. Install ActivePython.

Step 2. Uninstall Kindle4PC if you have the newer version and then delete the "amazon" folders in the "Roaming" folder. If running windows 7 you can access the Roaming folder by clicking START then in the SEARCH PROGRAMS & FILES BAR type the following: %appdata% Also delete the MY KINDLE CONTENT folder in your documents folder.

Step 3. Install Kindle4PC V1.01 beta (Must be this version of Kindle4PC) and untick the automatic updates button.

Step 4. Finally double click the unswindle_v7.pyw file and it will automatically open Kindle4PC. Click on the book you would like to remove the DRM from and when it's loaded close the Kindle4PC program and it will ask you to name and save your now DRM-free version of the ebook.

thank you for this, friend :) .epubee didnt work for me, calibre dedrm plugins didnt work because they need serial number and thats probleme, but with your solution finally i've got it! :) thanks once again

The most recent scripts from Apprentice Alf's blog work with most versions of Kindle for PC (except 1.5 and later) and all versions of Kindle for Mac.

I had a little difficulty installing ( I have a tendency not to read complete instructions). But it works FINE once you get it installed correctly. Thanks for letting me own my own book so I can read it on my iPhone device even though I bought it on Kindle.

Didn't think this would work, had looked everywhere on google, and several places on youtube that tell you what files you need but you have to find them yourself, and then you won't be sure that they work. Brillant download, I have now downloaded it and now I can put the files using calibre on my Cybook Opus.
