This is a ductless mini-split installation that Envirotech Heating & Cooling did. The unit is a heatpump system, which means that it heats and cools the space. The space that it is conditioning is an all glass sunroom that currently is heated and cooled with a noisy thru the wall type unit that had a hard time keeping up the temperature. This system is rated at a 19 SEER so should be very energy effecient.
It is hard to heat glass rooms.

My Sanyo 24,000 BTUh (36,000BTUh heating) mini-split has a button on the remote that allows the system to switch from the built-in thermistor (for the thermostat), or use the thermistor in the remote control.
The remote sends an IR signal to the air handler every 5 minutes (unless you press one of the buttons).
If you leave the remote out of sight (can't see the IR sensor), the system will switch to the built-in thermistor and maintain the last set-point, that it received from the remote.

wrong info at 2;.15 that remote control is not the termostat and does not senses any return temperature. it only sends a signal to a microprocessor inside the unit. the actual temperature sensing bulb is located in the air handler evaporator. nevertheless great job on that installation. good luck brother!
